Bishop R.D. Edward Goodwin Sr. is the pastor of Prayer Tower COGIC in Chicago, Illinois. He has been pastoring at Prayer Tower for over 25 years. He is an example of Christian Living and a product of the Word of God. He believes that you must live holy daily, and if the devil tries to decieve you, you can overcome it. He often quotes 1st Corinthians 10:13 " There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that which ye are able, but will with the temptation make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it." Bishop Goodwin is the son of the the Late Bishop Bennie E. Goodwin Sr. and The Late Mother Odessa Goodwin. He is the proud and devoted husband of 50 years to Mother Dollie L. Goodwin. They have four Children -Missionary Denise Wilson (Tylon), Pastor Edward, Jr. (Chandra), Mother Gina Johnson (Phil), and Elder Reuben Sr. (Kimberly), 10 Grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren-and all of them are active and apart of the Church of God In Christ. He is Senior Pastor of his fathers church, formerly called Portland Street, now called Bishop B. E. Goodwin Memorial Cathedral in Chicago Heights, Illinois, his eldest son Admin. Asst. Edward Goodwin Jr. is the pastor. He has served in the Church Of God In Christ all of his life. He was State YPWW President of Illinois 5th Jursidiction for over 27 years. He also served as a District Superintendent and Administrative Assistant until 1995. In 1995, he formed a fellowship called Illinois 7th Fellowship. In 1996 at the hand of The Late Former Presiding Bishop Chandler D. Owens, he was officially consecrated in 1996 in Illinois and installed in 1997 at the National Holy Convocation as Jurisdictional Prelate, . A man of Prayer, Fasting, Studying God's Word, many miracles are taking place under his ministry. In April of 2005, Bishop John Sheard, Chairman of the Board of Bishops for the COGIC Inc. appointed Bishop Edward Goodwin Sr. as Area Bishop for the Northwest States of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Bishop Goodwin is dedicated to God and Believes that "God Can Save Anybody from Anything!"

5 | | on Thursday, April 21, 2004, at the Chateau Bu-Sche in Alsip; |

7 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Goodwin has been the faithful leader of the |
8 | | Seventh Jurisdiction of Illinois of the Church of God in Christ |
9 | | for the past 10 years and has served God and the Inglewood |
10 | | community of Chicago for 19 years at the Prayer Tower Church of |
11 | | God in Christ; Bishop Goodwin has a heart to help and serve not |
12 | | only those in Inglewood but all persons in the Chicagoland |
13 | | area; and |
14 | | WHEREAS, He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human |
15 | | Services from Daniel Hale Williams University and a Master of |
16 | | Arts degree in Theological Studies from the University of |
17 | | Chicago, McCormick Theological Seminary; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Bishop Goodwin has been married 46 years to Dollie |
19 | | Louise, and has four children and 12 grandchildren who are all |
20 | | active in church administration and ministry; therefore, be it |
21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
22 | | NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
23 | | we join with the jurisdictional congregation in honoring Bishop |
24 | | R.D. Edward Goodwin, Sr., and give heartfelt thanks for his |
25 | | many years of Christian life and service to the Chicagoland |
